Puig-reig-Navàs-Prats de Lluçanès-Sant Feliu Sasserra-Avinyó-Balsareny-Súria-Castelladral-Serrateix-Viver-Puig-reig

The lower Berguedà is the area that the people of Berguedà take advantage of to “go for a ride” due to the lack of large mountains that give the feeling of being free from difficulties.

However, the accumulation of notable geographical elements – mountains, hills, passes, streams,... – means that at the end of a long route, significant differences in altitude also end up accumulating.

This route that runs through the lower Berguedà and extends towards the towns of Osona and Bages is a very significant example of this.

Description

We will pass through Cal Marçal and continue down the side of the C-16 to Navàs where we will enter through the exit of the roundabout that indicates it.

When we reach the roundabout next to the gas station, we will turn left onto the BV-4401 towards Prats de Lluçanès in a constant climb to Sant Pau de Pinós where we will begin the descent until near Prats where we will arrive in a slight climb.

Without entering the town, at the first roundabout we will turn right onto the B-431 towards Sant Feliu Sasserra where we will arrive after doing the first part of the route downhill and the second on level ground. From Sant Feliu, a long descent will take us in a few minutes to Avinyó.

When entering Avinyó, after the bridge, we turn right towards Balsareny (BP 4313). We will climb the short climb that in less than 4 km will leave us at the Collet de la Portella –also known as Cornet- we will climb a fast flat road to Balsareny. We will cross the town until we find the continuity of the road when we reach the last houses. We will continue west, on a very rolling road, with only small differences in altitude until Súria.

We will skirt the town to find the B-423 road and begin the long climb that will take us to Serrateix. Just beyond the town, the road begins to flatten to reach Viver. Just past the town, we will leave this road to take a paved track on the left that will take us directly to Cal Marçal. Once you arrive at Cal Marçal, you will need to take the c-1411z north to reach Puig-reig, the point where we had started the excursion.
