We have news from the church of Sant Quirze de Pedret from the year 983, when it was a property of the monastery of San Llorenç. During the early medieval period was not a parish, but even so, the church was favored by the faithful and was extended and embellished in the centuries X, XI and XIII, when reached the category of parish. In the eighteenth century belonged to the parish of Santa Maria de la Baells, like St. Andrew of Cercs.
It is, along with the Gothic bridge which was built in the thirteenth century, one of the most important monuments of the county and Catalonia. The murals preserved in the Diocesan Museum of Solsona and the National Art Museum of Catalonia, are outstanding examples of painting pre-Romanesque from Western Europe.
