It is a small restored Romanesque chapel, documented since the 10th century and, although it had been an independent parish, from the 15th century onwards it is listed as a suffix of Gisclareny.
It is a building with a single nave covered with a barrel vault and crowned with an apse to the east with a double-sided window. To the west is a bell tower that covers the entire width of the wall with two openings. The building has undergone many changes throughout history, with two lateral chapels added in the 18th century. In the center of the nave there are steps leading to the crypt, probably a burial ground of the later Romanesque period.
Sant Martí del Puig belongs to the municipality of Gisclareny and is located in the Bastareny valley, on a small hill to the right of the track that goes from Bagà to Coll de la Bena.
