The place of Palomera is located on the road that goes from Saldes to the area of Ensija from Coll de la Trapa.
The area of Palomera is an interesting viewpoint towards the valley of Saldes, Moixeró, Cadí and Pedraforca.
However, there is also the medieval village of Palomera. According to the latest archeological activities, the medieval settlement of Roc de Palomera consisted of 27 houses. It was a village of shepherds locking their flocks in the balms at the bottom of the rock. It was inhabited from the 12th century until the 15th century.
The settlement was built on top of a large rock, it had only one access via a zigzag path. It is located in a strategic location and had a main street with housing on the sides. The wall at the bottom of the houses formed the wall that surrounded them. These dwellings were single-storey, the walls were raised directly on the parent rock by the farmers themselves, with medium-sized stones. And at most they had three rooms.
It is currently in a poor state but taking a look around it you can see some elements.
